BWTM operates in two communities in Tanzania: Geita and Handeni. In both regions, poverty and gender can restrict access to education and employment. Many families live off of the land and are unable to access opportunities for education. Additionally, both communities have been impacted by HIV/AIDS.

At BWTM, we believe that music is a great community development tool that brings people together and facilitates healing. While music is a large part of Tanzanian culture, access to musical instruments is very limited. Musical instruments are quite expensive compared to the cost of living. This limitation has meant that many people in the communities where we operate have not had the chance to play or even hold a musical instrument.
